Georgia football has shocked the world this season, going 13-1 and earning another appearance in the national championship against Alabama.

No, this isn’t the 2018 national championship nightmare you occasionally have, this is real life, but now the Dawgs seem to be a little more mature and ready for this stage.

The Dawgs could have won it all in 2018, but head coach Kirby Smart and this staff are much more established now, and winning it this year would show their growth.

Georgia football wants to earn legendary status, and they seem ready to do just that.

During the media session on Wednesday, Nolan Smith, one of the Dawgs defensive leaders, gave some of the best quotes of the season.

He knows what it would mean to win a national championship. This team knows what it would mean because this hasn’t happened in 41 years.

Legendary is something people usually talk about when it comes to Alabama, but if the Dawgs were to beat the Tide and win their first title in four decades, this team would be considered legendary.

Leaving a legacy like winning a title is massive for a program, and if any group can do it, this team is the one that can. They want to be legendary so bad. Whatever it takes to win, it seems like they are willing and ready to make that happen.

This whole team wants to make this happen, not just Smith. These leaders are doing just as much as the coaches to ensure this team is ready to take on Alabama.

When these young men talk to the media, how they talk about wanting to win so bad should tell the entire fan base how serious they are taking this preparation. We’re not saying they didn’t do the same for the SEC Championship Game, but the way they’re handling the title game is different and exciting.

Georgia football coaches and players will do whatever it takes to earn this legendary status. While they will all still go down in school history as one of the best teams to don the Red and Black, that won’t be good enough for them — it’s a national championship or bust.
