Georgia football WR AD Mitchell

After Zamir White toted the rock into the endzone to score the first Georgia football touchdown in the third quarter to make it 13-9, Alabama got a lot of things to go their way, at least through the first couple of minutes in the fourth quarter.

When starting quarterback Stetson Bennett had that fumble happen, instead of letting that be the final nail in the coffin, he took control of the game after the Tide scored a touchdown off that fumble.

Bennett went 4-of-4 for 83 yards and two touchdowns after that fumble. That first touchdown was on a free play when Alabama jumped offsides, and he connected with AD Mitchell for a 40-yard pass.

The freshman made a monster of a play to score that touchdown. Mitchell has gotten some heat throughout the season for dropping passes, and so many wondered when he would show up. Well, he did on the biggest stage in college football.

Mitchell made two catches for 50 yards and the score. Those two catches were just what the Dawgs needed out of him. He will be the next George Pickens on the roster if No.1 declares for the draft, but now that he made a play like this in the title game, Mitchell should have all the confidence he needs to keep his career trending upward.

He wasn’t about to let that Alabama defender keep him from scoring because he knew Georgia needed that touchdown to put the momentum back in the Dawgs’ favor.

That touchdown catch was the biggest play in the game. It allowed the Dawgs to gain enough confidence to believe they could win. This catch will go down in Georgia history as one of the best touchdowns catches ever.

This young man stepped up and now will leave his mark on the program forever because he was the guy who stepped up first to reclaim the lead and help Georgia go on to score 20 unanswered points.
