Georgia football fans should feel a little hurt to find out that Jermaine Burton will transfer to Alabama. Like it or not, the Tide’s offense is the best fit for a wideout like him.

Of all the places Burton could have gone, Alabama was the place fans didn’t want to see him go, but he fits the mold of talented wideouts the Tide continues to land each year.

Burton seemed like he wanted to go to a school that would get him the ball more than a few times a game, so the kid made the right choice. Alabama has one of the most explosive offenses in the country, and the Tide loves to get their wideouts the ball.

Former Georgia football receiver Jermaine Burton makes the right choice for himself.

While it sucks to see him go to Georgia’s most significant competition right now, Burton will thrive in Tuscaloosa, and he needs that because he is good enough to go to the NFL Draft.

Sometimes even if a kid has great numbers at a school, it isn’t a good fit for him, and this situation seems like one of those times.

Last season with Georgia, Burton was the Dawgs second-leading receiver with 26 catches for 497 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 19.12 yards a catch and 35 a game.

Burton better get ready to compete at Alabama, though, because while he will likely get more targets, there are a lot of elite-level receivers in that room already, so he will have his work cut out for him.

We’re not saying he isn’t capable, but he has to get healthy first and work on some things with his blocking. Alabama will be an excellent place to improve and get the reps he wants, so it’s a match made in heaven.

Much like Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart knows how to work the transfer portal to his benefit, so while Saban has landed some big names recently, there is a lot of time left for Georgia to poach some talent as well.

Burton wants to be a wideout in the spotlight, and if he earns a starting role at Alabama, he will explode into the limelight. Georgia fans shouldn’t wish him any ill will. Sometimes a business decision has to happen, and Burton made his. He helped Georgia beat Alabama, so fans appreciate what he did and wish him luck in T-town.
