Georgia Football: The top 21 moments that made 2021 epic
11. Back-to-back false starts that the Georgia defense forced against Arkansas
The Georgia football top-10 showdown against Arkansas featured ESPN College GameDay, a Ryder Cup winner with his trophy, and the Dawgs earning their second shutout of the year.
However, the most impressive part was the crowd noise which helped the defense force back-to-back false starts on Arkansas’ first drive, which totally took them out of the rest of the game.
That effort from the crowd and defense comes in at No.11 on this list, just missing the cut to get into the top 10.
Head coach Kirby Smart asked the fans to get there early for the noon kickoff against the Hogs, and Dawg Nation answered the call.
That stadium was full before 11 a.m., and when it finally came time to play the game, they were rowdy and ready to prove that Sanford Stadium could be a dangerous place during the middle of the day.
After Georgia scored on its first drive, the Hogs got it on their 17-yard line. The noise was deafening at this point, and it caused a false start, then the defensive line did their shuffle on second down, which forced another false start.
Arkansas had 1st and 20 from their seven-yard line, making Georgia’s defense even more hungry.
Two plays later, Devonte Wyatt sacked KJ Jefferson, and the Hogs punted it back to the Dawgs.
After that, it was just a long day for Arkansas as the Dawgs punched them in the mouth, and they never recovered.
This series of plays was a massive point in the season because it showed what kind of weapon the fans were for this team and how disciplined Georgia’s defense is. They never wavered and made the Hogs look silly.
Those two false starts were just the beginning for Georgia’s defense, though, as the No. 10 best moment is from the same game.
