Georgia basketball saw their ladies’ program finish the regular season with back-to-back wins, and those two victories are huge for their confidence moving forward.

The Lady Dogs head into the postseason with a 20-8 overall and 9-7 SEC record. Georgia has earned the No. 6 seed in the 2022 SEC Basketball Tournament by winning on Sunday.

That seeding and the side of Georgia’s bracket paints a solid path to at least the semifinal of this tournament.

Georgia basketball has the confidence to make a deep SEC Tournament run.

The tournament begins on Wednesday, March 2 at 11 a.m. as No.13 Vanderbilt and No. 12 Texas A&M take on each other to decide who plays Florida on the other side of the bracket.

No. 11 Alabama and No. 14 Auburn are the second game that will play on March 2, directly after the first gets decided. The winner of this game will take on Georgia on Thursday, March 3, in the final first-round game.

The rest of the tournament seedings go as follows: No. 14 Auburn, No. 13 Vanderbilt, No. 12 Texas A&M, No.11 Alabama, No. 10 Mississippi State, No. 9 Missouri, No. 8 Arkansas, No.7 Kentucky, No.6 Georgia, No.5 Florida, No. 4 Ole Miss, No. 3 Tennessee, No. 2 LSU and No. 1 South Carolina.

If Georgia wins that game, they will take on the No. 3 seed Tennesee. The Dawgs should want a rematch against the Vols after falling to them 63-55 in January.

That game shouldn’t have been a loss for Georgia, so to get another shot at them with this kind of confidence, the Dawgs should have the upper hand.

This tournament appearance isn’t new to the Lady Dogs. They’ve appeared in all 52 tournaments and hold a 51-38 record. Last year, Georgia beat Kentucky and then-ranked No.2 Texas A&M to make the finals for the first time in 2004.

South Carolina and LSU are the only two teams that are better than Georgia, but that doesn’t mean the Lady Dogs can pull off an upset. The other programs they lost to aren’t, and it’s time to show that those losses were just off days.

Georgia has the grit and determination to get revenge for the last month.

The Lady Dogs have veterans who can be unstoppable when they’re focused. We saw it against Texas A&M on Sunday. Que Morrison and Jenna Staiti shined on Senior Day so that hot streak should continue into the postseason.

These two need to channel whatever they did on Sunday into the remainder of the season because playing that way is a recipe for success. Georgia has a deep team. All of those girls can get hot. It would be great to see one of the younger players step up in the tournament so Georiga can make a run at the NCAA tournament.
