The Georgia Bulldogs PGA Tour pros continue to flex their muscles as multiple guys are still in contention to win the Players Championship.

This year’s Players hasn’t gone how it was supposed to. Rain on Thursday and Friday put the tournament in a weather delay, so we are on Sunday, and the players are still in their second rounds.

Usually, they crown a champion on Sundays, but this year’s Players will have a Monday finish.

The Dawgs still in contention are Keith Mitchell, Bubba Watson, Kevin Kisner, Russell Henley, Brian Harman and Sepp Straka.

As of Sunday morning, the cut line is at +1, so Brendon Todd, Chris Kirk and Hudson Swafford will likely be the only three Georgia golfers not to make the cut. That line could change, but probably not enough to put them back in it.

The Georgia Bulldogs have six pro golfers still fighting hard to win the Players.

Mitchell leads the Dawgs as he sits at -5 through five holes of his second round. He will have a long day ahead of him if he holds onto this score, as they will likely get his third round started.

Watson finished his round during the utter carnage Saturday that saw 30-plus mile an hour wind gusts. He shot a 68 in terrible conditions to sit at -3 overall on the tournament. Watson was only one of two guys who shot under par during those wild conditions on Saturday joining Justin Thomas as the other to do so.

Saturday’s conditions were perfect for Watson’s shot-shaping abilities, so while a lot of guys around him were drowning, he stayed afloat and thrived.

Kisner was toward the top of the leaderboard on Saturday, but that wind caught up to him. He shot a 74, which is pretty darn good for the weather, and currently sits tied for 23rd. Henley is right there with him in 23rd as he shot a 73 for his second round to put him at -2 overall.

Harman is also sitting at -2 overall and tied 23rd on the tournament. However, he is midway through his second round, so he sits in a spot to make the cut but could put himself out of contention with a high score.

Straka had a strong start, but Saturday got the best of him as it did so many other players. He is at -1 overall on the tournament after shooting a 73 for his second round.

The wildest part is this tournament could go a multitude of different ways. Since it is so difficult, these -1 guys could put themselves right into contention with a solid third round. It’s about making the most of the opportunities given, and while this isn’t a major championship, seeing the scores where they are giving us those kinds of feelings.

Georgia PGA Tour golfers, especially Mitchell and Watson have such a good shot at winning their first Players Championships. It would be huge to see a Dawg hoist that trophy on Monday evening.

As wild as this tournament has been, the carnage and golf, in general, have been absolutely excellent.
