Georgia football is midway through its spring practice as the much anticipated G-Day spring game will be here in just a few weeks. The Red and Black squads will play for bragging rights on Saturday, April 16.

A few variations of the annual spring game have occurred since COVID-19 took the world by storm.

From having it canceled in 2020 to a virtual one in 2021, it’s about time the fans can come together in Sanford Stadium the Saturday after the Masters to cheer on their favorite team.

Fans should know everything ahead of the Georgia football G-Day spring scrimmage.

Since head coach Kirby Smart took over at Georgia, he switched the date from running on the same weekend as the Masters to be the weekend after so more fans would come.

Georgia’s Red and Black squads will kickoff at 1:00 p.m.  ET, and the game will be on ESPN2 for those Dawg fans that can’t make the trek to Athens.

Georgia football G-Day ticket information

This year is no different in terms of dates and being able to watch on television, but there are some changes to the event regarding tickets.

The University of Georgia announced on Monday, March 28, that tickets for the annual event were now available. Most years, this event has been free to the public, but this year Georgia has $5 reserved tickets on its website available for fans to purchase but free for Georgia students.

According to the university’s website, eight tickets are the maximum per transaction. These tickets will all be digital.

Parking for the annual event is free of charge and will be available to whoever gets there first, so plan to make sure you have a parking place.

There will be a limited number of game day parking lots reserved for parking permits only, and of course, standard game day procedures will be in effect.

Tailgating is a necessity for this game and will be allowed. Starting at 7 a.m. on April 16, fans can find parking and begin tailgating, much like a regular game day would be.

Fans who have to park further out can find the game day shuttle service running from East Campus Parking Deck and the Intramural Fields.

Georgia football G-Day schedule of events and fun activities

Dawg fans will have a full day in Athens on April 16 as the university has a ton planned for G-Day. This spring scrimmage has come a long way in seven years, and we’re here for the evolution.

Georgia fans love their Dawgs, and being able to make a day out of it is great for families and fans who drive from all over the state.

The gates open at 10 a.m., and it’s likely smart to get there early so fans can get the seats they are supposed to.

Georgia’s annual alumni flag football game begins at 10:15 a.m., and the Dawg Walk will be at 11:50 a.m. The team will come in like a normal Game Day, and with it being the first “football” event since winning the championship, it’s sure to be one crazy entrance.

There will also be an opportunity for fans to get a photo op with the World Series and National Championship Trophy at Reed Plaza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and fans can do this with their G-Day ticket.

The World Series Trophy will also appear at the baseball game from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the closest left field gate inside the stadium. Georgia baseball will have Game 2 against Texas A&M at 4 p.m. on that Saturday for Dawg fans looking to support one of the spring teams.

Georgia football will have a ton of stuff going on that weekend for Dawg fans to enjoy in Athens. Make sure you get tickets and plan before it sells out because, much like 2016, the 2022 G-Day is sure to top all of the other spring matchups.
