Georgia football will focus on landing more elite defensive linemen

While Georgia football signed seven defensive linemen in the 2022 cycle, this position will still be one the Dawgs emphasize. There are never enough bodies in the defensive line room because no one can predict how good a high school prospect will be. This position takes a lot of development because it isn’t always the easiest spot to play.

Plus, with Jalen Carter likely declaring for the draft after the 2022 season, Georgia needs to keep finding and signing those top-tier bullies. Not to mention Tramel Walthour will be a senior. There are also a lot of redshirt juniors that will be out there, too, who, with one good season, could declare for the NFL.

A lot could happen at this position in 2022, so the Dawgs need to sign some strong interior and edge rushers in the 2023 cycle.

If Georgia continues to sign guys that they can develop into powerhouses up front, then there will never be a lull at this position. To have an elite defensive line every year, a school has to keep that position full of guys that are physically gifted and willing to put in the work to be that good.

Georgia has a lot of guys like that from the 2022 class, but this 2023 class is full of studs that could really be a difference-maker in the next few years.
