Georgia football is picking up steam on the recruiting front as the Dawgs picked up a 4-star cornerback on Monday in Justyn Rhett.

After visiting Athens for the G-Day scrimmage game, Rhett de-committed from Notre Dame. The buzz surrounding him and Georgia made it seem like he would pick the Dawgs, and he did.

This commitment is enormous for the Dawgs because Rhett is one of the most talented in the 2023 class.

With this addition, Georgia now has the No. 3 class in the 2023 247Sports Team rankings with its nine members.

Georgia football got a huge pick-up in 4-star CB Justyn Rhett.

At 6-1 and 195-pounds, Rhett is already big enough to play in college, and that size coming out of high school is a big pull.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the No. 107 overall player, the No. 12 cornerback and the No.2 player out of Nevada.

G-Day was Rhett’s official visit, and on that trip, it seems he realized it was the best fit for him. Defensive backs coach Fran Brown got his first big commitment with the Dawgs, and it’s notable.

Of course, Will Muschamp and head coach Kirby Smart were in on this recruiting process too, but Brown did a great job building that relationship. After he initially committed to the Irish, none of the Georgia coaches backed off, and that tenacity paid off as he flipped to the Dawgs.

Rhett comes from a high school with a lot of notability in Bishop Gorman — yes, the same school that Tate Martell attended for a while.

He is a solid athlete that has the agility to adjust quickly. Rhett is strong in zone coverage and isn’t afraid to get aggressive in man coverage. He has great vision to see the ball in coverage and watch how the play develops.

With the right coaches to develop him, Rhett will make a strong corner in college and potentially the league. He has the physical build for this position, and now it’s time to fine-tune some things.

This senior year will be a big one for him, but one that could impress. When Smart, Muschamp and Brown are in the recruiting battle for someone — that kid has what the coaches want out of a defensive back, so they do what it takes to land him.

Next. It’s simple, Stetson Bennett has a title ring and it’s time to accept it. dark

Georgia football has some momentum with recruiting right now, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see a few announce in the coming weeks and months. The Dawgs are working hard on the recruiting trail to land another top-five class, and Rhett is a perfect fit.
