Georgia football didn’t have to wait long to see its 11th player get drafted as Jake Camarda got selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 133rd pick.

He was the third kicker/punter off the board but found a great landing spot with Tampa Bay.

The Dawgs only have four left to get drafted with three and a half rounds, so this 2022 NFL Draft could get interesting.

Georgia football sees Jake Camarda drafted during the 4th round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Camarda has a big leg, and the more he kickers, the better he gets. It’s not every day that a team will take a punter, much less during the fourth round. However, the 2022 NFL Draft hasn’t been a normal one either.

The Bucs got a punter who can flip the field and help the defense. Camarda is so strong as he averaged 46.7 yards a punt during the 2021 season. The longer Camarda kicked for the Dawgs, and he got more accurate and consistent, so seeing him land with a team like Tampa Bay is a great fit.

Of his 47 kicks, 17 landed inside the 20-yards line, and 18 of them were for 50-plus yards. Camarda’s longest punt in 2021 was for 68 yards, so the Bucs have a guy who can really pin offenses deep in their own territory.

He also took on the kickoff duties in 2021, as he had 102 kickoffs, with 71 of them resulting in a touchback — 59% touchback rate.

The Bucs needed a punter, and Camarda is someone that can make an impact right away because his leg is strong, and he is accurate enough to play now.
