The Los Angeles Rams are the latest team to draft a Georgia football player in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft as they selected defensive back Derion Kendrick with the 212th pick.

Kendrick transferred to Georgia from Clemson and was one of the most improved defensive backs as he was a huge piece of the 2021 defense.

He was the final defensive player to get selected for the Dawgs, as his pick tied Georgia with the most taken in one draft at 14.

Georgia football sees Derion Kendrick drafted in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The LA Rams got an undervalued cornerback in Kendrick, who has a chip on his shoulder. He wants to prove himself, and getting him in the sixth round is an excellent pick-up for the defending Super Bowl champions.

In his one year at Georgia, he worked his way up the depth chart and found his way into the starting lineup. Kendrick started all 15 games for the Dawgs and finished his career with 41 tackles, four interceptions and three pass breakups. He led the Dawgs with those four picks, as two came against Michigan in the Orange Bowl.

That semifinal game earned him the Defensive MVP honor, and even though he didn’t play all four years with the Dawgs, Kendrick bought into the culture and grew so much as a player.

The Rams have a scrappy, reliable cornerback who could work his way into the secondary rotation. Kendrick gets overlooked because he went from a wideout to a cornerback, but he turned into one of the best in the SEC with the right development.

Sometimes it takes finding the right program to shine, and Kendrick did that.
