Former Georgia football running back Sony Michel may have won a ring with the Los Angeles Rams but still had to find a new team and found the perfect one in the Miami Dolphins.

On Tuesday, the news broke that Michel signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins worth $2.1 million.

While the Dolphins have a deep running back room, they don’t have one like Michel. He joins Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds, who also signed with the Dolphins this offseason. Miami has two more backs on their roster in Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed, who they also tendered.

However, Michel brings a winning mindset to the table, and two Super Bowl rings.

Former Georgia football running back Sony Michel signs a great one-year deal with the Dolphins.

Despite finding his third team in five seasons, Michel needs to stay healthy and find his forever team. The Dolphins may be that team, and if it is, Miami just got a significant steal through free agency.

Last season, he had 845 yards and four rushing touchdowns for the Rams. While he had some success, LA chose not to resign him. That’s okay because the Dolphins need someone to help their rush attack. After all, it was terrible in 2021.

When we say bad, the Dolphins had the third fewest rushing yards in the league, with the Falcons and Texans having fewer yards. Miami averaged 3.5 yards a carry and just 12 rushing touchdowns on the year. They had five runs of 20-plus yards, but that isn’t impressive as it’s also No. 30 in the NFL.

Michel, along with the other backs Miami signed, should help their rushing issues, but the former Dawg should shine in South Florida. He has the right running style, and if he can produce what Miami needs, he will get a bigger contract.

The other incredible moment is that Michel will wear the No. 34 jersey in Miami, which has to be a good sign.

It’s great to see a former Georgia football running back find a team that feels like the right fit, and Michel will get his moment this fall. As long as he stays healthy, it’s only up from here for him.
