Georgia football finally knows when their first game of the 2022 season will happen as the Chick-fil-A Kickoff folks announced the kickoff time and network.
While a 7:30 p.m. kickoff would be fantastic, there is one kickoff time that is genuinely better.
The Dawgs and Ducks will be on ABC at 3:30 p.m. ET, and it’s a perfect time. Georgia is one of those schools that thrive when they play in the mid-afternoon.
Most of their games were at 3:30 p.m. in 2021, so this is just a great way to start the new season.
Georgia football will have an afternoon delight of duck in Week 1.
Usually, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game is at 7 p.m. or an evening kickoff, but it feels right to see the Dawgs and Ducks in the middle of the afternoon.
There is no reason to have a night game because 3:30 p.m. is a perfect time. It gives the Dawg fans plenty of time to tailgate without feeling like it needs to be an all-day affair.
It also gives the team enough time to prep for the game without feeling rushed for a noon kickoff. Plus, not having to wait all day to play the game has to be great.
Since head coach Kirby Smart took the job, Georgia hasn’t lost an opening game, so that will not start in 2022. The Dawgs are coming off a massive national championship win over Alabama, and while they lost a lot, the Dawgs return a lot.
They’ve reloaded and are ready to take on the next season. Sure some moving parts need to be addressed, but for the most part, Georgia will contend in 2022, and other teams just have to deal with that.
Georgia football has a great Week 1 test against Oregon, especially against Dan Lanning, who helped the Dawgs win a championship, but those things happen. The Dawgs have a great program that is ready to build a dynasty, and that continues in Week 1 against the Ducks.
