Georgia football announced a few kickoff times on Thursday, and let’s just say none of them, outside Flordia, were worth anything.
The reigning national champions should have as many night games as possible. Why would ESPN and the other networks not want to make that happen? Imagine how incredible the atmosphere will be in Athens or on the road in 2022 with Georgia as the reigning champs?
Instead, the Dawgs get two noon games and a 4 p.m. one. Of course, the Georgia-Florida game will be at 3:30 p.m. on CBS as it should — thank goodness they haven’t messed up that one.
Georgia football deserves top-notch kickoff times in 2022, not mediocre ones.
The worst announcement had to be the South Carolina one and how the game will be at noon in Columbia, S.C., in the middle of September when it’ll be 100-degrees after humidity.
Georgia and South Carolina will play at noon on Sept. 17 on ESPN. Like, come on, ESPN, do you really want your crew to get heat exhaustion in Columbia? No one wants that, but here we are.
People will melt into the parking lot from it being so hot, but sure, let’s have what could be a game between two undefeated conference opponents play in the middle of the day.

Sure I understand that it appears the major networks are trying to make the noon games the premier spot, but it should be for this one because it will be too hot.
The month of September, especially in the south, should not have more than one noon game — it’s safer that way.
Georgia has two in September — South Carolina and Kent State, in back-to-back weeks. Dawg fans rarely got a night game in 2021, and they deserve better than this.
Kent State is the following week after the trip to Columbia, S.C. It will air on ESPN+/SEC Network+ — don’t get me started on that topic either. Georgia shouldn’t be on the extended network. It’s ridiculous that they are, and it’s disrespectful.
Sure there are contract agreements and stuff, but how often do I need to say reigning national champions for it to matter.
Georgia does get a 4 p.m. kickoff against Samford for the home opener, but it will still be scorching. That game will air on the SEC Network, which is fine, but at the same time, UAB got an evening time last year — why couldn’t this one?
At this point, I think the networks like seeing if Georgia can draw in the ratings at various times just to see what will happen.
Hopefully, when the Dawgs go 4-0 after the Kent State game, Georgia fans will see week-after-week of night games to compensate for this terrible decision.
