Georgia football fans need to remember that the Dawgs are reigning national champions and that two pieces of bad news don’t mean the sky is falling.

As Disney legend Edna Mode said to Mrs. Incredible, “my god, pull yourself together,” I need you Georgia fans to do the same.

Who cares if the Dawgs lost out on a 4-star in-state running back. Those things happen in recruiting; until the ink dries, you never know what might happen. Does it sting to see a legacy running back go to Alabama? Yes, but everyone has to make their own decision.

These misses are not great, but they aren’t detrimental either. Some think the Justice Haynes miss is the biggest since head coach Kirby Smart and his staff have had since they got to Athens, but I don’t think it’s that serious.

Then there are the transfer rumors, the coaching rumors, the NIL rumors — all the stuff that happens during the offseason when Week 1 is closer than it is further away.

Georgia football fans fall victim to talking season, again

Every July, it seems like Georgia fans get so anxious about the upcoming season that they forget about the previous success that has come from Smart. This time of year, rumors fuel the system and help make fans pass the time quicker.

Are some of the rumors true? Possibly. Do the Dawgs miss out on kids sometimes? Sure, but it’s also important to know that there is a long time between now and December’s signing period, plus the way Smart runs his program isn’t changing.

He has figured out a successful plan, and it continues to work. If I remember correctly, in July 2021, four or five guys who signed with Georgia in December committed to another school or did not even consider the Dawgs.

This recruiting process is a marathon, the offseason is a marathon, and the talking season is a sprint. Georgia doesn’t have to win the state every recruiting cycle. There are ways to recruit, and the Dawgs are doing it the right way.

Times are changing, but Smart isn’t, and neither is his culture, process, or how he will choose to run the Georgia football program.

Step away from the ledge, Dawg fans, this July will soon pass, and by the end of it, you’ll forget the first 19 days of it, be excited about the guys committed to the Dawgs and be one step close to fall camp and the season.
