Kirby Smart had the all time best quote from SEC Media Days

All 14 SEC head coaches took the SEC Media Days stage and provided some much-needed football content, but Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart had the best quote among them.

There were a lot of great lines that came out of Atlanta last week for SEC Media Days, but the one that stood out among all of them was Smart’s confident words about having a target on the Dawgs’ back.

Georgia went 14-1 last season to win a national championship over Alabama, and while the Tide continues to get praise, the Dawgs get questioned. Does losing 15 guys to the NFL Draft hurt? Yes, but what Smart and his coaching staff have done is recruited well enough that falling off like LSU won’t happen.

There may not be as much experience as there was on defense last year, but that unit will be scrappy and physical like every other Georgia defense before that historical one.

Smart doesn’t care what the media says about his team because he knows it better than anyone else. The people putting that bullseye on the Dawgs’ back are looking for ways to rile up the fans, but we should all know by now to trust the process.

"“We will not be hunted at the University of Georgia. I can promise you that,” Smart said. The hunting we do will be from us going the other direction.”"

No one will intimidate Georgia with Smart at the helm. While that national championship is a great thing to accomplish, it’s a new season, and other teams can use that title as bulliten board material, but the Dawgs aren’t dwelling on the past.

Among all 14 coaches, Smart sounded confident about his program and what the future holds, which is why he earned the title of best SEC Media Days. I’m not biased about this because I watched every interview, and the meaning behind this is why it’s No.1 in my book.

In other words, you can try and hunt down Georgia, but watch your back because the Dawgs will be a few steps ahead of you strategizing how to eliminate the next opponent.

Georgia football isn’t going anywhere because Smart has built an incredibly strong culture in Athens. This quote wins because it should terrify the SEC East. Smart knows these weapons, the staff, and the schedule could produce another monumental season for the Dawgs, and he is ready for it. The rest of the SEC East though isn’t.
