Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart may have had to replace some coaches this offseason, but looking at this staff as a whole, it’s the best one that he has had in Athens.

The Dawgs have some of the brightest coaching minds on staff right now, but they also have some of the best recruiters. These guys understand the system that Smart wants in place and also have bought into his culture.

There is a specific standard that Smart holds his coaches to, and when you run a tight ship the way Smart does, your support staff must buy into every part of it.

While some coaches are still getting acquainted with the program, it’s pretty clear none of them have missed a beat since getting to Athens.

Georgia football has its best coaching staff yet under head coach Kirby Smart.

The Dawgs have the best offensive coordinator in college football despite what other fans and programs think. Todd Monken looks at football so intensely that he is the offensive version of Smart. He is aggressive yet brilliant. Monken knows how to get the best out of his players, and it shows now that his system has been in place for two years.

He is the best offensive coordinator because Monken schemes based on his personnel. Monken doesn’t try and make the offense something it’s not. Instead, he finds his players’ strengths and works with those to produce a lot of success.

Look at starting quarterback Stetson Bennett for example, Monken played into his strengths, and they won a national title together.

"“Probably the best staff I’ve ever had since I’ve been there in terms of continuity. We had four coaches change, but the four new coaches we’ve gotten have jumped onboard, grabbed things,” Smart said at SEC Media Days. “They know how to manage the situation. We got three or four coaches who have done this before in terms of having won a championship, understanding what it takes to do it again.”"

Continuity is a massive part of having a successful coaching staff, and Smart is lucky to have that after losing four coaches off a national championship team.

Tray Scott, Glenn Schumann and Will Muschamp are the defensive guys that have bought in and proven their worth. Without them, Georgia wouldn’t have a ring. Dell McGee, the running backs coach, is a massive puzzle piece. His closing ability on the recruiting trail and development has been so important to the Dawgs’ success.

The new coaches, two of whom have been at Georgia before, could jump in because the other assistants know how this culture works and could help them. Not to mention, the guys Smart hired are all on the same page regarding culture. They all seem to understand the bigger picture, which has to be one of the reasons Smart said what he did earlier this offseason.

Also, having those coaches who have been a part of successful programs helps because they know how much sacrificing has to happen to be a contender in today’s college football scene.

Smart gave quite the endorsement, which should tell the world how highly he thinks of his coaches. This group of men could help Georgia continue to build on the legacy Smart has been working on since getting to Athens seven years ago.
