Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart took the podium on Monday to talk with the media as there are just a few days left until the Dawgs take on Oregon. The media also got to speak with a few players, so the media Monday madness really solidified that the season has returned.

One of Smart’s best lines out of that press conference was his comment on the Oregon quarterbacks. What he said should fire up the masses because it shows that Georgia will be ready for whoever takes the field.

Of course, Stetson Bennett is the Dawgs starting quarterback, but the Ducks have a heated competition going on between Bo Nix and Ty Thompson. Lanning may or may not release his starter before Saturday’s game, but regardless, Georgia will be ready.

Smart doesn’t need Lanning to announce a starter because, at the end of the day, no matter what, Georgia’s defense has to stop Oregon’s offense.

Georgia football isn’t intimidated by the lack of information coming from Oregon.

This defense will be ready, and Smart’s comment was a reminder of that. Nix seems to be the obvious choice for Oregon, but Thompson could be something Lanning does to attempt to throw Georgia off its game. However, Smart is too good of a coach for something like that to happen.

Even if there are some unknowns prepping for Oregon, the players have to pay attention to their assignments and execute those. If they are prepared for the game plan, it doesn’t matter who they play against on the field.

"“That really doesn’t impact anything for us. I mean, I know who the quarterback is going to be. I’m not worried about that,” Smart said during his Monday press conference. “Worried a lot more about how our guys play and what our guys do and how our guys execute…At the end of the day, they may play both of them. It’s never about the preparation for one specific quarterback as much as the preparation of your team to go play well.”"

Smart makes a good point that regardless of who plays, it’s about preparing the team as much as possible. Both Nix and Thompson could play on Saturday, and the team needs to execute the game plan instead of worrying about which guy plays.

To me, that tells the fans that Georgia isn’t intimidated by either quarterback. Smart didn’t flat-out say that, but a good defense doesn’t care. They want to stop whoever is in the backfield.

Oregon’s quarterback situation shouldn’t intimidate this defense if they practice well and know their assignments. Smart wants this group to focus on themselves and get better within because as soon as you start worrying about outside stuff, it can cause complacency and the team to have a lack of focus.

Georgia football will be ready on Saturday for the Oregon Ducks. Smart praised Oregon and said Lanning would have his team together, which is his game. He respects teams and knows victories will follow if he prepares his in the right way.
