Georgia football had one of the best game plans among all of college football for their Week 1 opponent. Some may say that Oregon was over-ranked, but that is a well-coached team with a lot of talent that just got outcoached and outplayed on Saturday. Oregon got slapped and didn’t recover, and Georgia took advantage of it.

After a full Week 1 of college football, with one more matchup to go between Clemson and Georgia Tech, the Dawgs looked like one of the most dominating teams in the country.

The way they prepared and executed the game plan was almost perfect. Were there some slip-ups and mishaps? Sure, but none of those small mistakes waivered their ability to shut down Oregon.

Georgia looked like a well-oiled machine that was not playing in its first game of the season. This game was one of the best opening games in terms of execution and game plan out of Georgia in a very long time.

The Dawgs knew what they had to do. They sent that message to the rest of college football and made Oregon look silly in the process.

Georgia football is ready to take the 2022 season head-on after an impressive Week 1 performance.

Usually, Georgia has mistakes to work through after its first game of the season, but after the Oregon one, those things are tiny compared to other seasons. I’m not saying that Georgia is playoff ready after one game, but this squad does give me a lot of confidence about where it’s heading.

Both sides of the ball showed poise and toughness. For that young and inexperienced defense to force two turnovers and keep Oregon out of the endzone was a huge positive. That defense did bend during the game, but they never broke, which is great to see out of them in Week 1.

There is plenty of work to do on the defensive side of the ball, but the most impressive part was that offense and how demoralizing it was to the Ducks. Georgia starting quarterback Stetson Bennett only saw pressure a few times, and when he did, it wasn’t a big deal for him. He made the right decisions, and while he had a few questionable ones, Bennett did his job well.

The offense, as a whole, looked dominating and intimidating. Georgia fans have waited a long time to see this kind of offense, and as long as everyone stays healthy, it should remain intimidating. That defense will grow as the season progresses, as the ceiling is untouchable for them.
