Georgia football will host Samford in its season’s home opener, and it could be a wet one for those planning on attending the game in Athens.

However, as crazy as the weather can be, preparing for rain just in case will be the best judgment for this 4 p.m. kickoff against the Bulldogs. Things can change, but for now, it’s going to be rainy all day long.

According to weather.com, Athens will see a high of 76 degrees and rain throughout the day. There is also potential for heavy rainfall, so maybe a rain jacket and a poncho for double the coverage.

Dawg fans usually don’t mind a little rain, and hopefully, the worst of it will be for tailgating. With this game being the first home one of the season, Dawg fans should come anyway, but hopefully, this weather doesn’t deter them from making that trip to the Classic City.

Georgia football fans will have a soggy day in Athens for the Samford game, so be prepared.

The best part about the rain is its lower temperatures that help cool off the smoldering South. At 76 degrees, the Dawgs will have cooler weather for the game against Samford. There will be extremely high humidity percentages ranging from 95%-100%, so as long as it stays cloudy, it’ll be okay.

Right now, there is a 70% chance until mid-afternoon, then it drops to 63% as the evening approaches. The low will be 69 degrees, so it will feel amazing in Athens about the time the third quarter rolls around for fans.

Even with the rain, fans should be able to enjoy this matchup because it should result in a massive victory for the Dawgs. While the rain isn’t any fun, we should all enjoy that Georgia football is back between the hedges.

Pack your rain jacket, the best rain-resistant shoes, and go to Athens. Fight through the rain, hang out with your fellow Dawgs and be there for the team. They need that support, and that means rain or shine.
