Georgia football struggled against its opponent for the second straight week in a row as the Dawgs won a nailbiter over Missouri 25-22. It was not a pretty performance, but sometimes a win is all a team needs.

This game was a tail of two halves, and Georgia happened to be the one who won the half that mattered.

If this football season tells us anything, it’s that no team is untouchable, and that makes it nerve-racking for Georgia fans, but it also makes for a fun year. Georgia had to do some soul-searching in this game, and thankfully they found it to score those two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The biggest drive of the night came with 6:48 left in the game. Kenny McIntosh took the first two for six yards and 22 yards to get the momentum going. Starting quarterback Stetson Bennett came up big when the Dawgs needed him to after a flat-out terrible first half.

He got the ball to Marcus Rosmy-Jacksaint for 13 yards to move the chains. Dominick Blaylock caught a 15-yard pass for a first down to get deep into the red zone. Brock Bowers caught a pass to get them to the one-yard line, and Daijun Edwards punched it in for the score that won the game.

Georgia football struggled to win, but pushed through the adversity to get that fifth win.

Missouri committed a costly penalty right after the Dawgs finally scored, which was the biggest turning point. Not to mention them winning the turnover battle, forcing two fumbles early. The Tigers had nothing to lose, and Georgia had everything to lose — that mattered in tonight’s game.

While it was a struggle to win, those victories will happen to championship-caliber teams. Georgia had to find something to win, and the Dawgs did just that. It doesn’t matter if Georgia covered the spread, it doesn’t matter if they blew out the team — a win is a win, and that is what counts at the end of the day.

Georgia came into this game overconfident and has a bigger ego than most fans expected. This group isn’t the same as last year, which showed in the last two weeks. However, this game should have knocked them down a few notches because it was not great.

This game exposed the Dawgs some. Dawg fans can take a deep breath and find some tums for the heartburn that this game gave us, but Georgia is 5-0 and heading back home for a rivalry game. At the same time, if this squad has what it takes to go all the way, they will find ways to win no matter what, and that is what we have to appreciate.
