Georgia football should be skittish about being No.1 overall
Georgia football once again has the biggest target on its back as the Dawgs reclaim the No.1 overall ranking on the AP Top-25 Poll. After Alabama struggled against Texas A&M and Georgia beat Auburn by 32-points, it’s understandable why the Dawgs are No.1.
The Dawgs received 32 first-place votes to hold that top spot, and Ohio State jumped the Tide as they earned 20 first-place votes. Alabama fell two spots to No.3 and got just 11 first-place ballots. Rounding out the top five is Clemson, who jumped Michigan for the No.4 spot, and the Wolverines sit at No.5.
Georgia football should be mindful of sitting No.1 overall.
Now that the Dawgs are sitting atop the AP Poll, everyone will be watching them like a hawk. Georgia will have to keep pushing down the throttle and demoralize teams to hold onto that No.1 spot.
Here is how the rest of the Top 10 looks in the AP Poll:
- Georgia (6-0)
- Ohio State (6-0)
- Alabama (6-0)
- Clemson (6-0)
- Michigan (6-0)
- Tennessee -0)
- USC (6-0)
- Oklahoma State (5-0)
- Ole Miss (6-0)
- Penn State (6-0)
This top-10 is pretty impressive, and for the first time in a long time, it’s super competitive from top to bottom — college football needs that.
While it’s an honor to be No.1, let Ohio State or even Alabama reclaim it because this season feels like the top-ranked team has a curse attached to them. Georgia is a young team that is growing and getting better each week — that title only makes the ego a touch too big.
The Dawgs can handle being No.1 overall, but if they want to stay successful, they will have to close out the outside noise. Who knows what will happen now that the Dawgs are on top again? But hopefully, it’ll end in Georgia being undefeated.
