Georgia football: A speedy 3-star picks the Dawgs on ESD
Georgia football picked up its second commitment of Early Signing Day in 3-star athlete Kyron Jones who picked the Dawgs over NC State. He was an NC State commit but backed off as the Dawgs started showing interest, and the rest is history.
The Dawgs have 25 members in the 2023 recruiting class with the addition of Jones and could see at least two more on Early Signing Day join the group. Jones is a great pickup because his speed makes him a nasty athlete who can do whatever the Dawgs need. The Dawgs brought him to play in the secondary, but he played both ways in high school.
Today has been easy for the Dawgs as they have avoided losing any of its members and haven’t missed the guys they expected to join the class. The Dawgs are playing this recruiting cycle strategically, and so far, it’s paying off and being very beneficial.
Georgia football adds its second pickup of Early Signing Day in Kyron Jones.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Jones is the No. 46 running back and No. 21 player out of North Carolina. However, he won’t play running back for the Dawgs. Georgia needs more bodies in the secondary, but Jones could be someone that can do multiple things because he is so versatile. Not to mention his speed makes him so incredible.
Jones is incredible. He won a state championship as a junior in the 100 and 200-meter races. He runs a 100-meter dash in 10.6 and a 200-meter dash in 21.6 seconds. His three-star ranking does not mean anything because Georgia sees greatness in him.
As a senior, he rushed for 1,346 yards and 16 scores, with three receiving scores on his resume. Jones also recorded 43 tackles and three pass breakups. Georgia liked what they saw from him and added him to this already-stacked class.
Secondary coach Fran Brown will do wonders with Jones, and this is a win for him as a recruiter. He sees something in Jones, which means he passes the expectations that Georgia has for its recruits. The Dawgs are still No.2 on the 247Sports team rankings behind Alabama, but the good stuff is coming this afternoon. While the Dawgs will likely stay at No.2, they are adding some studs on top of the 25 they already have.
