Georgia football 2023 NFL Draft class: TE Darnell Washington could be a fit with Saints, Jaguars, or Chargers

What can be said about Big O that hasn’t been said before? Darnell Washington’s size and sheer physicality are what jump out for most.

However, he is an excellent catcher of the ball, and his physical size, including his long reach, makes him a very difficult player to match up against. It is these attributes, much like Kyle Pitts which make him an intriguing option for NFL scouts.

A year ago it would have been difficult to imagine Washington being selected in the first round and he may still not, but his name is being mentioned more and more in draft circles as a first rounder which is a testament to his contribution to Georgia’s second successive run to a National Championship.

Playing in Todd Monken’s pro-style offense which featured two tight ends shows NFL teams what Washington is capable of. The fact that Washington can block as well as any of the linemen on the Georgia team is a huge boost to his draft stock.

Truth is that Washington could land in a number of places however in New Orleans with the Saints or the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Chargers could also be another landing spot for Big O, however, with the anticipated upheaval of the coaching staff in Culver City, the chances of a new head coach picking a tight end in the first round is either slim or bold. But stranger things have happened.
