College football is an interesting sport in that it is very difficult and somewhat uncommon for true freshman to make much of an impact on the team. Yes there are examples every season of freshman shining on the field, but compare that to the thousands of freshman who hardly play at all and you'll quickly see how rare this is.

Georgia football is not immune to this as many of their true freshman struggle to see the field each season as well. But Kirby Smart and his staff recruit at such a high level that there are always a handful of freshman who not only play their first season in Athens, but are arguably some of the best players on the team.

247Sports insider Grant Hughes recently listed five true freshman for Georgia who could make an immediate impact this fall, so let's take a look and see who he's listed.

5 players 247Sports expects to play significant minutes this year

1. 5-star DL Elijah Griffin

2. 5-star LB Isaiah Gibson

3. 5-star WR Talyn Taylor

4. 5-star OT Juan Gaston

5. 4-star TE Elyiss Williams

Key Takeaways

The thing that obviously stands out the most in 247Sports' prediction is that Georgia is going to get a lot of help in the trenches from their true freshman this season. One the defensive side of the ball, UGA has Elijah Griffin and Isaiah Gibson up front who just so happen to be the two highest ranked commits in Georgia's class. They may not become starters this year, but it would not be surprising to see both of them play significant minutes in every game.

Georgia also has a stud offensive tackle in Juan Gaston who shot up 90 spots in 247Sports' final rankings to earn his fifth star. Earning playing time on the offensive line is near impossible to do as a freshman, but 247Sports believes he will be used in a rotational role as the season progresses.

The last player worth mentioning is five-star wide receiver Talyn Taylor. He is the first five-star wideout Georgia has signed since 2019, and he will pair very well with incoming wide receiver transfers Zachariah Branch and Noah Thomas. Wide receiver is a position that is much easier to play as a true freshman, and while he may not be a starter week one, Georgia fans should expect to see Taylor on the field very often this fall.
