Georgia will take on Arkansas in their SEC opener on Saturday at Noon EST on ABC. The first two games of the season were about as easy as they can be for Georgia and this week might not be much more difficult, but this game is the Bulldogs' biggest test of the season so far.
A win is critical as Georgia looks to repeat as SEC Champions, but winning in style may be just as important as they look to build their resume. Keeping that in mind, here are three bold predictions as Georgia hits the road for the first time this season against the Razorbacks.
1. Gunner Stockton leads Georgia on a touchdown drive every possession he plays
Through two games this season Gunner Stockton has led Georgia on a touchdown drive every time he's been on the field. With SEC play beginning that streak could be difficult to continue, but he will keep it alive this week against Arkansas.
Stockton thankfully doesn't have to dominate on offense by himself. He has Nate Frazier alongside him in the backfield who is off to an incredible start this season. He can rely on him to make some big plays and even score a touchdown or two in this game, but Stockton will have to play as good as possible to keep this touchdown streak alive.
If Stockton can score a touchdown every time he takes the field then he probably won't have to play the entire game. He'd eventually get taken out to rest because they are up by so much, so that will help him keep his touchdown streak in tact.
2. Georgia runs a trick play on special teams
It would be wise for Georgia to keep their play calls as bland as possible in this game. Georgia's schedule gets much more difficult after this week, so to keep future opponents on their toes it would be smart for them to keep as much as their playbook hidden as possible.
Georgia however will run a trick play on special teams at some point. Early in the game Georgia will line up for a punt, but instead of kicking it away they will fake it and pick up a first down. This will help Stockton keep his streak alive of scoring a touchdown every drive he takes the field.
Georgia won't need to run a trick play to beat Arkansas and there's an argument to be made for why they should save these plays for future games against better teams, but in an effort to get payback against Razorbacks head coach Ryan Silverfield Georgia will embarrass them by pulling off a trick play on special teams.
3. Georgia scores a defensive TD from a fumble recovery
An interesting graphic floated around social media this week showing which teams have scored non-offensive touchdowns. It tracked every pick six, special teams and fumble recovery touchdown in college football so far this season and grouped teams together based on what they've accomplished this year.
Georgia was one of just a handful of schools to have a pick six and special teams touchdown through the first two weeks, but no team has scored a touchdown in all three ways. Georgia will become the first team to score in all three ways by returning a fumble for a touchdown in this game.
