Transfer portal season is officially upon us once again as the portal opened on Wednesday. Georgia football is in a great spot as their roster looks very healthy as is, but there are some positions of need Kirby Smart will have to address.
A Georgia insider believes the three positions Georgia will pursue the most are EDGE, defensive line and corner. So knowing that, here are three players available that would be huge additions for the Bulldogs.
1. EDGE David Bailey
The position Georgia might be the most aggressive with in the transfer portal is EDGE, and there are a lot of great options for Smart and his staff to target. But David Bailey from Stanford might be the best of them all.
Bailey has shined in all three of his seasons at Stanford, but this past season he tallied a whopping seven sacks. On top of that, he also added 31 tackles and a staggering five forced fumbles as well.
The competition for Bailey will be fierce, but he is someone that would immediately make Georgia’s defense much better than they already are.
2. DL Elhadj Fall
Next up is the defensive line, which is a position the Bulldogs need some more depth. The good thing about this position is Georgia has some quality players that will be the starters in the fall, but the backups behind them need more experience.
One player in the portal who could help with that is Georgia Southern transfer Elhadj Fall.
Fall is coming off an impressive junior season where he recorded 20 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one pass deflection. He even performed well on special teams as he had one block this past season as well.
So while everyone always likes to pay attention to the big fish players that would be an immediate starter wherever they go, Georgia doesn’t necessarily need that on their defensive line. So a player like Fall would be perfect to help give the Bulldogs just a little more depth.
3. CB Julian Neal
Last but not least is corner, where Smart has shared is always a position he is looking for more talent. So what better corner to target then the highest ranked corner that is still available in the portal?
Julian Neal is a transfer corner from Stanford, but he only spent the spring at Stanford before deciding to enter the portal again. Before Stanford Neal was at Fresno State where he played for three seasons. During the 2024 season, Neal recorded 35 tackles, one sack, five pass deflections and two interceptions.
Not only is Neal the top corner still available in the portal, but he is the No. 5 overall corner in the portal this year, so he would be a massive pickup for Georgia if they were to land him.
