Georgia football is having their way with Texas as the Bulldogs lead the Longhorns 14-3 at the half. While pretty much everything went right for Georgia during the first half, there were three things in particular that stood out for UGA.

1. Gunner Stockton is having himself a great night

Gunner Stockton had himself an impressive first half to start so far. He has displayed a calm poise in the pocket, completing passes with ease and in a timely fashion. He is currently 14 for 17 for 139 yards and two touchdowns with a rating of a 189.9.

The Bulldogs have found sucess in exploiting Texas's secondary throughout the first half. Stockton has been very impressive this season so far and a game like this can only boost his Heisman stock especially if Georgia can pull away and win by a big margin.

Mike Bobo needs to keep going at this Texas secondary in the second half. Georgia needs to keep their foot on the and not let up. As thisTexas team has shown all season, they will not give up without a fight.

2. Defense is making their mark

Georgia’s defense has been making their presence known so far in the first half against Texas. They have allowed a total of 164 yards of offense, with 125 coming through the air and only 30 rushing yards. The Bulldogs has allowed only 3.9 yards per carry, which has been one of their strengths all season long.

Georgia has been very successful making Texas one dimensional as they have forced them to focus on their passing game since the run game hasn’t really been there.

Georgia’s pass defense has done very well so far as well by flustering the Texas recievers from the line of scrimmage. Georgia has also done a great job of making Arch Manning uncomfortable as they got one interception by KJ Bolden in the second quarter.

If Georgia wants to pull away from this game, they need to keep adding pressure on this Texas offense and keep making them uncomfortable and flustered. Georgia has done a great job taking the run game away from this offense, but if they want to win this game they have to keep dialing up blitzes and ensure their run game doesn’t wake up.

3. Noah Thomas having a coming out party

Noah Thomas has had the game of his life so far in the first half. He has been a reliable red zone target for Stockton on their first two drives of the game as he has four receptions for 32 yards and two touchdowns.

Thomas, who has had a slow start this season, has come along very well in the last few games and has made his mark ever since the injury to Colbie Young. If the Bulldogs want to keep pulling away, they need to start targeting Thomas a lot more and give him the football.

Georgia gets the ball to start the second half and will look to build on their lead and put this game away.
