Kirby Smart and Georgia once again will face an extremely difficult schedule this year. Their schedule features some really strong teams like Alabama, Ole Miss and Oklahoma, but there are a few sneaky games that will be tough that could destroy their chances of winning a National Championship.
Any one loss won't completely end their season, but it would put them well behind the eight ball and make it very difficult just to make it into the College Football Playoff.
1. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia's season finale against Georgia Tech is an easy game to overlook. Georgia usually has their spot in the SEC Championship game locked up by this point and the Yellow Jackets haven't won many of these matchups recently, but that could be a recipe for disaster.
But even if this is a game people might overlook, Tech has done a great job a challenging Georgia in recent years and arguably should've won in 2024.
As mentioned, any one loss won't eliminate Georgia's hopes of winning a National Championship, but a loss to Tech would be dangerous. One thing the playoff committee inadvertently ranks teams on is how they are playing down the stretch, so a loss to Tech at home in the final game of the season could be enough to keep the Bulldogs out of the playoff altogether.
2. Florida Gators
Winning rivalry games is one of the most important goals every season, but beating Florida feels extra important this year.
Georgia will be a solid favorite over the Gators again this year, so losing to a team like them would really hurt their resume. Florida fans however are extremely hopeful that new head coach Jon Sumrall will finally be the answer for their struggling program, and they are ready for a big win on the field to prove it.
The best way for Florida to claim they are back is by finally beating Georgia. So not only would losing to Florida seriously hurt Georgia's chance of winning a national title, but the endless discourse from Florida fans would not be fun to deal with for the next year.
3. Vanderbilt Commodores
Vanderbilt is one of the most under-the-radar games this season. The Commodores have greatly improved the last few years, but can they keep that progress up with a new quarterback taking over?
Speaking of quarterback, former Georgia commit Jared Curtis will more than likely be the starter for Vanderbilt this season. That opportunity for revenge is too good for Georgia to pass up, but a loss to him would really cement in Curtis's mind that he made the right choice to flip to Vanderbilt.
A loss to this Vanderbilt team though would destroy Georgia's chances at winning a national title. Georgia faces too many teams that are better than Vanderbilt (especially on the road) that if they lose this game they could miss the playoff this year.
So not only is Georgia's reputation on the line in this game, their season will be too.
