Georgia had one thing on their mind after five-star quarterback Jared Curtis flipped to Vanderbilt, revenge. The Bulldogs were guaranteed to play Curtis and Vanderbilt within two years because of the SEC's new scheduling model after adopting a nine game conference season, but it was unclear when that first matchup would occur. Georgia however was hoping their first matchup against the Commodores would come sooner rather than later so they could get some revenge as soon as possible.
Thankfully that opportunity is coming much sooner than anyone could have hoped for.
Georgia's revenge against Jared Curtis, Vanderbilt is coming sooner than people thought
The SEC released Georgia's official 2026 schedule Thursday night. The Bulldogs will open with two easy non-conference games at home before hitting the road to begin SEC play at Arkansas. However, not long after that Georgia will get their first crack at Curtis and Vanderbilt.
Georgia and Vanderbilt are scheduled to play during week five on Oct.5. That is about as soon as anyone could have hoped for Georgia's first opportunity at revenge against Curtis, so no one in Athens will be complaining about this game coming so early in UGA's schedule. But to make it even better, this game will be played in Athens between the hedges.
Curtis still has to go and win the starting job at Vanderbilt for this matchup to hold any weight, but he more than likely will win the starting job. In fact, there is a chance the Commodores guaranteed him that job in order to get him to ditch Georgia.
The Bulldogs have a lot of exciting games next season. This includes a road date with Alabama as well as home matchups with Oklahoma and Auburn. Georgia also will play Florida in Atlanta which will make that feel more like a home game next year. But the Commodores trip to Athens may just be the game circled with the thickest sharpie on Georgia's schedule as they look for revenge against the person who was supposed to be the future of their program.
