Georgia football lost their No. 1 commit in their 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday as five-star quarterback Jared Curtis announced that he was flipping his commitment to Vanderbilt. This news really didn’t come as that much of a surprise since he has been trending that way for the last month, but it’s still very unfortunate to see.
Georgia now has to pick up the pieces and find a quarterback to replace him, and at this point it’s not clear who that will be. But while Georgia fans wait to see who that player is, they can look ahead to next season and the opportunity UGA will have for some revenge.
Georgia has a chance for revenge against Jared Curtis
Earlier this year the SEC announced Georgia’s conference schedules for the next four years. Dates have not been assigned for their games next year, but Georgia does know who the nine SEC teams they will face during the season. And low and behold, Vanderbilt is one of the teams Georgia will face next season.
And to make it even better, the Bulldogs will host Vanderbilt in Athens.
This will be the perfect opportunity for Georgia to get revenge on Curtis and show him what he is missing out on. Curtis obviously still needs to earn the starting job with the Commodores, but he made it very clear over the last few weeks that he expects to start next season. Vanderbilt potentially guaranteed him thag starting job, so that likely is one reason why he ended up flipping to Vanderbilt.
It’s impossible for a loss on the recruiting trail to be worse than this, so Georgia would love nothing more than to blow Curtis and Vanderbilt out next season. And Georgia fans will want to make their opinions of his decision known as well. So even though it would have been nice to keep Curtis in Georgia’s class, the Bulldogs will have a chance next year, and in 2028, to show Curtis why ditching them was a big mistake.
