Seth Williams is a four-star defensive back that Georgia has been aggressively targeting. The Bulldogs were one of his two finalists along with Clemson, and with his July 3 commitment date quickly approaching Georgia was hopeful they'd be able to add the talented Peach State recruit.

Williams however took to social media to announce that he is canceling his scheduled commitment. A new commitment date hasn't been shared yet, but this development is actually a really good one for Georgia's chances.

Seth Williams turned his back on Clemson for the second time

As mentioned, Williams had Georgia and Clemson as his final two schools. That may not seem very noteworthy, but in Williams' recruitment it absolutely is.

Williams was once committed to Clemson, but on April 9 he decided to decommit from the Tigers. He did however decide to keep Clemson in the running, and he is very much still extremely high on Clemson. In fact, he was predicted to commit to Clemson once again before he decided to cancel his announcement.

So not only did Williams turn his back on Clemson a few months ago, he did it again a few days ago when it looked like he was about to commit to them. Williams didn't share exactly why he decided to cancel his visit, but there's a chance it was because Georgia is in a better spot with him than anyone thinks.

Georgia may be in a better spot with Seth Williams than anyone realizes

Why else would Williams decide to cancel his announcement other than it being because he is having second thoughts about actually wanting to go to Georgia? If he canceled for a reason that had nothing to do with recruiting then he would've said that, but that's not what happened. Williams however shared no information, so that makes it seem like Georgia is actually in a strong position with him.

Georgia could really use a big win on the recruiting trail, and Williams would be the perfect player to provide that. Georgia just lost another elite defensive back to Clemson a few days ago, so it would be nice to get some revenge and give them a taste of their own medicine.

Georgia is in a strong position with other recruits who could commit soon, but Williams is someone they desperately need. He is from the state of Georgia and would be the first defensive back to commit to UGA, so this is a recruitment that Kirby Smart needs to bring home.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds, but for now Georgia should be feeling confident because Williams can't seem to make up his mind.
