One of the most exciting parts about recruiting is when a recruit is committed to one program and flips to someone else. This happens all the time in recruiting nowadays, and Georgia football is very familiar with stealing recruits from other programs. But they will also from time to time lose recruits to other schools as well, and those are the losses that sting the most.
Kirby Smart and his staff are always recruiting the best players in the country, so that means they are more prone to other schools attempting to steal their recruits. And that has been the case so far in the 2026 cycle.
One commit who has been hearing a lot from other schools is four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford. Spafford is the No. 62 overall player in the country as well as the No. 9 wide receiver according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Spafford committed to Georgia back in November, but it's easy to see why other schools would want to try and flip him.
Thankfully it sounds like Spafford has no intentions of leaving Georgia based on what he shared with On3.
"Let them talk.”
Spafford isn't going anywhere
Spafford is from California, so the fact that he lives so far from Georgia and is an elite recruit makes him a prime flip candidate. Especially with elite programs like USC and Oregon nearby, it would not be surprising at all to see them reach out to Spafford and for Spafford to show some interest in them as well.
And while a lot of programs have shown interest, Spafford still remains set on Georgia being the right place for his future.
This doesn't mean he won't show interest in other schools in the future, but Georgia has to feel extremely confident with where things stand today with Spafford.
