Monday quickly turned into one of the biggest days on the recruiting trail for Georgia this year. The Bulldogs earned two commitments on Monday, but the one everyone is talking about is Joakim Gouda.
Gouda is a four-star recruit and the No. 2 overall linebacker in the country, according to On3. He chose the Bulldogs on Monday over Florida, Texas and Auburn, but when he committed he still had official visits scheduled to these other schools throughout the month of June.
But just a few hours after he committed he took to social media to share that all of his future visits are cancelled and he won't be scheduling anymore until he signs with Georgia.
I WILL NOT BE TAKING ANYMORE VISTS ANYWHERE EXCEPT FOR UGA !!!

Joakim Gouda dives in on why he chose Georgia before visiting other schools
These are the recruitments that have made Georgia into the program they have become under Smart. They get one of the best players (Gouda) on campus and get him to commit before they take trips to any other schools.
Then instead of taking the other visits they had scheduled they cancel them and commit themselves to Georgia for good.
So what led Gouda to make this decision? He had visits scheduled to some really good programs, so it would've made sense to at least hear them out before making a final decision. But Gouda apparently saw everything he needed to see from Georgia as they checked all of his boxes he was looking for during his visit.

Now instead of having to worry about his commitment, Georgia can enjoy a stress free recruitment and look forward to when he signs with the program in December.
Joakim Gouda could be the turning point for Georgia's 2027 recruiting class
There is a chance Gouda could be the player that turns the tides for Georgia in the 2027 recruiting class. Not long ago the Bulldogs were ranked outside of the top 30 and were losing recruitments left and right, but then this weekend happened and Georgia added four recruits to their 2027 class.
Now Georgia has the No. 21 class in the country, according to 247Sports. Sure that isn't quite where they want to end up, but they are trending the right way and have a great chance to jump inside the top 10 soon.
Smart will host big recruiting events each weekend throughout June. There will be many elite players visiting Georgia who are on Gouda's level if not a little better, so if they see that he was willing to commit to Georgia they may be more inclined to do the same as well.
And who knows, maybe they will follow his lead and cancel all of their other visits as well.
Regardless of what happens going forward Georgia's 2027 class is in a good spot. Smart and his staff still have a lot of work to do, but he is showing that he still has what it takes to sign one of the best classes in the country just like he's done nearly every other year.
