Georgia has quickly become the hottest team in the country on the recruiting trail.
After a busy weekend in Athens that saw Kirby Smart welcome a laundry list of top recruits to Georgia, the Bulldogs earned a commitment from the No. 2 linebacker in the country, Joakim Gouda, who was arguably the most important visitor on campus this weekend.

Gouda chose Georgia over Florida, Texas and Auburn, but it's the Gators who are likely feeling the most upset after seeing him commit to Georgia.
4-star Joakim Gouda gives Georgia a big win over rival Florida
Florida fans have been acting very cocky recently. That's a strange thing for them to do since they haven't been a good program in over a decade, but a few wins on the recruiting trail have led their fans to think they are an elite program all of a sudden.
Smart however was quick to remind them just how far they have to go to catch up to Georgia. Gouda was scheduled to visit Florida this coming weekend, but he decided to cancel that visit so he could commit to Georgia.
Florida fans thought they were on Georgia's level. They thought they could finally compete with Georgia. In reality none of that was ever true. Their blind optimism has nothing to do with what is occurring in real life, and in reality they are so far from catching up to Georgia that it is laughable that they even think of putting themselves in the same conversation as Georgia
Florida fans will never admit that, but this commitment is an obvious reminder just how good Georgia has it compared to them.
Kirby Smart, Georgia are enjoying the fruits of their labor
Something must've been in the water this weekend in Athens because Georgia recruiting is as hot as ever before. The fun began on Sunday when not one, but two recruits in the 2027 class committed to Georgia. Both players were on campus this weekend and just like Gouda cancelled other big visits just to commit to UGA.
On top of those commitments, Georgia also added a wide receiver to their 2026 recruiting class on Sunday as well who is joining the team this week to begin preparing for the season ahead.
And to take it up one more level, Gouda was actually the second player to commit to Georgia on Monday. Just a few minutes before him EDGE Olayiwola Oregeoluwa Taiwo committed to UGA as well.
Georgia may have gotten off to a slow start with the 2027 recruiting class, but they are as hot as hot can be right now. That is a very scary thing for the rest of the country because there are no signs of Smart slowing down anytime soon.
Last June Georgia added about 20 commits. Counting May 31 Georgia is already at five commits this month, and with a few more big weekends of recruiting still on the way this June that number could very well surpass last year's total.
