This weekend marked the first weekend of a busy month of recruiting. Kirby Smart will host countless recruits each weekend from now through the month of June as he looks to improve Georgia's 2027 recruiting class.
The expectation after each weekend this month is that Georgia will add at least few commits, and that quickly became their reality on Sunday when Georgia landed two recruits over some notable Big Ten and SEC programs who were both on campus this weekend at the same time.
Kirby Smart proves he's still go it by adding two elite recruits fresh off visits
The first recruit to commit to Georgia on Sunday was three-star wide receiver Taurean Rawlins who chose Georgia over Ohio State, Indiana and Arkansas.

Then just moments later Georgia earned a commitment from three-star offensive tackle DJ Dotson who chose UGA over Auburn, Georgia Tech, LSU and Ole Miss.

Georgia had been off to an extremely slow start in the 2027 recruiting class. They spent the last few weeks ranked outside the top 30, and while other schools were earning more commitments Georgia couldn't get any momentum.
But Georgia officially has some momentum thanks in part to a key adjustment Smart made to his recruiting tactics.
Kirby Smart learned from past mistakes to earn commitments earlier than normal
A new trend in college football recruiting emerged this year in the form of recruits committing to schools earlier than they have in past years. They are even committing before taking all of their scheduled visits which is a somewhat new phenomenon as well.
Before this weekend Smart hasn't been able to figure out how to pull this off, but that changed with these two commitments. Both Rawlins and Dotson had multiple official visits scheduled to other big name programs, but they decided that Georgia was the right place for them without having to make those trips.
There is still a chance that Rawlins and Dotson go on these visits, but the most likely scenario is that they will cancel them all and stick with Georgia no matter what.
The hope now is that this trend will continue and Smart will be able to add more commits from this weekend's list of visitors and future weekends as well. Regardless, things are starting to look up for Georgia's recruiting class and that is a very scary thing for the rest of the country to see.
