This past weekend gave Kirby Smart an amazing opportunity to continue building Georgia's 2027 recruiting class. Smart welcomed a long list of recruits to campus with hopes of convincing a handful to commit, and so far he has been successful.

Georgia received two commitments on Sunday from players who were on campus this weekend, but there are multiple signs that point to even more good news coming soon.

First it was a Georgia assistant coach who said it's "about to heat up."

Then it was Rivals' insider Radi Nabulsi who shared a similar message saying there is "more to come."

But it was Nabulsi's next post that indicated that four-star in-state linebacker Joakim Gouda could be on the verge of committing to Georgia soon.

Multiple predictions show Georgia is trending with in-state LB Joakim Gouda

Georgia was already in a great spot with Gouda entering his official visit this past weekend. A few months ago On3 predicted him to commit to Georgia, but with no known commitment date anything was still possible.

These social media posts however show that he is closer than ever before to committing to Georgia. On top of these posts, two experts from 247Sports also predicted Georgia to win his recruitment after his visit this weekend as well.

At this point it only feels like a matter of time until he commits to Georgia, and the sooner he does the better because he has two big official visits still on the books over the next two weeks.

Kirby Smart changed key tactic to begin fixing Georgia's 2027 recruiting class

Recruits are committing to schools much sooner this year than ever before. This has caused Smart to lose some key recruitments because players wee choosing other schools before they even visited Georgia.

This is a fairly new tactic for Smart to use at Georgia, but since so many other schools are getting players to commit early it was something he had to learn to do as well.

Smart already pulled that off this weekend because the two players who committed to Georgia on Sunday had multiple visits to Power Four programs scheduled over the coming weeks. Gouda is in a similar spot as well as he is scheduled to visit Florida this coming weekend with a trip to Texas the week after.

These are two visits that Georgia does not want to see happen. Florida has found a lot of success recruiting under new head coach Jon Sumrall and Texas can steal a recruit from anyone with the massive NIL money they are willing to throw around, so it would be ideal for Gouda to commit in the next few days and cancel these other trips.

Gouda hasn't shared a timeline for his commitment yet, so there is a chance he could visit Florida and Texas still before making his final decision. Even if those visits do happen Georgia is in an excellent position, so whether he announces over the next few days or in a couple weeks Georgia should expect some good news eventually.
