Four-star running back Jae Lamar is the only running back currently committed to Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class. That makes his commitment extremely important for Georgia to hold on to, but Lamar has been sending mixed signals recently.
Those signals however are a thing of the past, because Rivals’ Jed May shared on Wednesday that Lamar has cancelled his visit to Florida State and will be at Georgia’s game against Marshall on Saturday instead.
Big update. Lamar had previously told Rivals he’d be at Florida State this weekend https://t.co/BYlr97C2Fd

4-star Jae Lamar set to visit Georgia this weekend
Lamar hs been committed to Georgia since the end of June. His commitment initially felt very secure, but throughout the past few weeks he has been showing signs that his commitment may not be as solid as everyone thought.
New reports began to circulate last week indicating that Lamar was planning visits to other schools this season. This included Florida State, who Lamar was planning to visit this weekend when they host Alabama for their season opener. That visit however is no longer taking place as Lamar now plans to be in Athens instead.
While this is obviously great news for Georgia, Lamar has also shown some interest in visiting Miami (FL) and Auburn this season as well. It’s unclear if he has visits scheduled to either school yet or not, but reports have indicated that they are likely to occur.
That however could be changing, and Lamar’s decision to cancel his visit to Florida State at the last second and come to UGA instead is the best possible sign for Georgia.
Regardless of what happens with the other two schools in the future, this update is a big win for Kirby Smart and Georgia. This report shows that the Bulldogs are still the top school in Lamar’s recruitment, and something drastic will have to occur for that to ever change.
