One of the top recruits that visited Georgia last weekend on an official visit was running back Ezavier Crowell. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Crowell is the No. 33 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 2 running back in the 2026 recruiting class and the No. 3 player from his home state of Alabama.
Considering he is from Alabama, it is not surprising to find out that the Tide are one of the top teams in his recruitment. In fact, many believe Alabama is the team currently leading for Crowell.
But Georgia brought Crowell to Athens last weekend with the hope of gaining some ground on Alabama in his recruitment. But according to Adam Gorney with Rivals, that unfortunately did not happen.
"Alabama has been considered the far-and-away front-runner for the No. 1 running back in the class and that might not change, but Crowell had an excellent time at Georgia over the weekend and the Bulldogs are moving up," Gorney shared via uga.rivals.com. "How far Georgia goes is undetermined, but the coaching staff made it clear that the Jackson, Ala., standout is a priority. He feels like he fits in that offense and loves the attention to detail. This recruitment has now gotten a lot more interesting."
Georgia might not be in the running for Crowell any longer
Crowell has a commitment date scheduled for June 26 which is quickly approaching. Considering it sounds like Georgia is still trailing in his recruitment, the hope would be that they would have time to bring Crowell on another visit before his commitment dateto try and catch up to the Tide. But that likely won't be able to happen because Crowell has visits upcoming with Florida State, Texas, Auburn and Alabama before his commitment date.
So unfortunately this might be a recruitment Georgia comes up short on. But that isn't the end of the world because Georgia is in on many other top running backs as well, including four-star Jae Lamar who they are the current leader for.
