One of Georgia football's top commits in the 2026 class is four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 74 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 9 wide receiver in the 2026 recruiting class and the No 10 overall player from his home state of California.
The fact that Spafford is from California has created some problems for Georgia because he has been showing a lot of interest in other schools out west like USC and UCLA. In fact, he has official visits scheduled to both programs along with Washington and Miami (FL) as well.
Spafford is also a recruit that has been labeled as a potential flip candidate from various recruiting experts as well.
Spafford has been committed to Georgia since November, but it's clear to see that he hasn't always been acting like a Georgia commit. That however will change this weekend as Spafford will take an official visit to Athens.

Georgia can cement Spafford's commitment this weekend
As mentioned, Spafford hasn't really been acting like a Georgia commit over the last few months. Sure he has remained committed to the program, but he does feel like the most likely UGA commit to change his mind and flip to a different program.
That's what makes this visit to Athens this weekend so important for Kirby Smart and his staff, because an amazing visit will help eliminate any lingering thoughts Spafford might have of flipping elsewhere.
So be sure to pay close attention to Spafford's recruitment over the next few weeks, because if Georgia can survive the official visit season throughout June then there is a great chance Spafford will sign with Georgia's class in December. And what an elite weapon he would be alongside five-star quarterback Jared Curtis.
