Five-star quarterback Jayden Wade has been committed to Georgia since last November. Since then there have been rumors of him showing interest in other schools, but so far he has remained steadfast in his commitment to Georgia.
When Wade committed to Georgia he was the No. 1 quarterback in the country. He's always had serious competition to keep that ranking though as fellow five-star Christopher Vargas was ranked just behind him.
Unfortunately Vargas has officially passed Wade as the No. 1 quarterback in the country, and it's all thanks to a ridiculous ranking from Rivals.
Rivals is tanking Jayden Wade's overall recruiting ranking
A few recruiting sites still have Wade ranked No. 1 in their 2028 quarterback rankings. 247Sports believes he is the top quarterback and the No. 2 player in the country and ESPN also crowns Wade as the No. 1 QB and No. 4 overall player. But Wade unfortunately is the No. 2 quarterback according to the 247Sports composite rankings thanks to Rivals.
Rivals somehow has Wade ranked as the No. 33 overall player in the country. They also think he is the No. 3 QB in the 2028 class as well.
Georgia will be more than happy to sign the No. 33 player in the country, but it is a bit strange that Rivals views him so differently from 247Sports and ESPN. Maybe they know something that these other sites don't know, but they are the outlier out of the three recruiting services so it seems like they have it all wrong right now.
Kirby Smart has to overcome a nightmare trend to keep Jayden Wade in Georgia's recruiting class
Georgia has not had any luck when it's come to recruiting top ranked quarterbacks over the last few years. Twice they have been able to earn commitments from top ranked quarterbacks, but they both turned their backs on Georgia at the very end of their recruitments.
This most recently happened with Jared Curtis in the 2026 recruiting class. Curtis famously decommitted from Georgia once before recommitting to the program only to flip to Vanderbilt just days before signing day.
Two years before that the same thing happened with Dylan Raiola who was committed to Georgia before flipping to Nebraska right before signing day as well.
These recruitments should make fans very nervous about Wade. Sure he is a completely different player, but Kirby Smart clearly has a problem keeping top ranked quarterbacks committed to Georgia.
It however is extremely important that he doesn't lose Wade's commitment. He is someone who can change the trajectory of Georgia and help them go from struggling in the College Football Playoff to making a serious run at National Championships.
Wade still has a year and a half left until he can sign with Georgia and end his recruitment. That unfortunately gives other schools plenty of time to try and steal him from UGA, but Smart needs to find a way to change this trend and keep Wade in Georgia's recruiting class.
