Five-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton has been the No. 1 target for Georgia for quite some time. Unfortunately Guyton has been committed to Texas Tech since early August, but that hasn't stopped Georgia from aggressively pursuing him.
It's always seemed like Georgia was Guyton's second choice behind Texas Tech, but unfortuantely he has stuck with the Red Raiders up to this point. However, a quote from Guyton went viral on Friday as it shows that UGA still has a chance to win his recruitment.
“It’ll probably just be because I can’t fight the rage in my heart. I’m from Georgia, and it was always my dream to play for their team.”

But why would he?

5-star LaDamion Guyton gave Georgia some new hope
Georgia has remained in the hunt for Guyton ever since he committed to Texas Tech in August. Guyton was originally part of the 2027 recruiting class, so the Bulldogs thought they had plenty of time to try and flip him from the Red Raiders. That however changed in mid-October when Guyton reclassified to the 2026 class.
Guyton also scheduled a visit to Georgia when he made this announcement, so UGA fans thought they had a great chance to steal him. Unfortunately he ended up canceling that visit which seemed to end all hope for Georgia.
But this quote from Guyton on Friday shows that Georgia still has a chance to win his recruitment. Guyton said that he has a "rage in his heart" that he can't ignore when it comes to playing for Georgia which is the school he always dreamed of playing for. This makes it seem like UGA should be the team to beat, but he unfortunately has remained committed to Texas Tech.
Even after this statement though it doesn't feel like Georgia's chances are that great at winning this recruitment. But anything is possible, and Kirby Smart and his staff will not be giving up until Guyton officially signs with Texas Tech next month.
