One of the top recruits Georgia football has been after is five-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton. He is from the state of Georgia and was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, so it's obvious why UGA is so motivated to win his recruitment.
Unfortunately Guyton committed to Texas Tech in August, but that hasn't stopped Georgia from pursuing him. Even though he has remained committed to Texas Tech, it has always felt like Georgia stood a great chance at landing his commitment. Unfortunately that dream has come to a crashing end as Guyton announced that he has cancelled his visit to Georgia that was supposed to take place this weekend.

5-star LaDamion Guyton announces visit to Georgia
Guyton visiting Georgia this weekend was major news for the program, but that wasn't the only announcement he had in store this week. Guyton also announced on Wednesday that he will be reclassifying to the 2026 recruiting class, meaning that his recruitment will officially end in just a couple months.
At the time it was hard to judge if this was good or bad news for Georgia. Since he is still committed to Texas Tech it would be nice for Georgia to have that extra year to try and sway him away from the Red Raiders. However, if Guyton did end up flipping to Georgia, UGA wouldn't have had to worry about other teams attempting to steal Guyton from them for as long.
Unfortunately Georgia's hopes of flipping Guyton from Texas Tech look to have come to an end now that his visit to Athens this weekend has been cancelled.
The Bulldogs have done everything they can to try to convince Guyton to come to Georgia, but this news ends any chance Georgia may have still had. Thankfully Georgia's recruiting class is still very healthy, so missing on Guyton shouldn't hurt them in the long ron.
