The most important recruit for Georgia football in the 2027 recruiting class is five-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 2 overall player in the country and the No. 1 EDGE in his class. But the thing that makes him even more important is that he is the top ranked player from the Peach State.
The only problem is that Guyton announced his commitment to Texas Tech on Aug. 7.
The Red Raiders typically aren't a school Georgia has to worry about on the recruiting trail, but they have begun throwing around large sums of money to bring in some of the top recruits in the country. That is what has been rumored to be the reason why he chose Texas Tech over Georgia.
The Bulldogs won't be giving up on Guyton anytime soon, and a fellow five-star who just decommitted from Texas Tech gave UGA the perfect pitch they can use to flip Guyton from the Red Raiders.
“If I’m in the NFL which is what I want to do overall, that money is not going to matter and I’m going to bet on myself a good amount of the time and that’s what I’m doing.”
BREAKING: Five-star OT Cooper Hackett says he took a "good chunk less" money to flip from Texas Tech to Oklahoma.

Georgia’s new 5-star pitch could flip No. 1 EDGE
Five-star offensive tackle Cooper Hackett was once committed to Texas Tech. He however has decommitted from the Red Raiders and flipped to Oklahoma because he knows he can be developed better there. His ultimate goal is making it to the NFL, so he is fine making less money at Oklahoma knowing they will give him a better shot at making even more money in the NFL.
Georgia's offer on the table for Guyton is less than Texas Tech's offer, but similarly to the Sooners UGA can offer him a better chance to make it in the NFL. And if he does find success in the NFL he will make a lot more money than he will in college.
Since 2020, the Red Raiders have only had 11 players drafted to the NFL which includes two first round picks. Georgia on the other hand has had 62 players drafted during that same timeframe with a whopping 16 players taken in the first round. It's hard to argue against that data.
So if Guyton wants to make more money in college then he should go to Texas Tech. But if he wants to make really good money while giving himself the best chance to get rich in the NFL, then the right choice is abundantly clear.
