There are countless things that Kirby Smart could do to get a recruits attention. But there is no better way to get the attention of a Georgia target than by showing up on a helicopter to watch one of their games.
And that is exactly what Smart did Friday night with five-star EDGE LaDamion Guyton.

Kirby Smart snags the attention of the No. 1 EDGE
Guyton is one of the top recruits in the country in the 2027 recruiting class. In fact, he is the No. 2 overall recruit according to the 247Sports composite rankings. This is reason enough for Georgia to aggressively pursue a recruit, but Guyton is the No. 1 EDGE in the country and the top ranked player from the Peach State, so he is someone UGA desperately needs.
Unfortunately Guyton is already committed to another program as he announced his commitment to Texas Tech on Aug. 7. This was a big loss for Georgia because he is from their backyard, but it isn't time to panic yet because there is still over a year remaining in his recruitment.
Even if that is the case, Georgia has a lot of work to do if they are going to flip him from Texas Tech. But Smart flying in on a helicopter and landing at midfield to watch him play will go a long way in Georgia's pursuit.
This will be a recruitment to monitor closely over the next year because Smart and his staff are not going to give up just because Guyton is committed elsewhere. Georgia has been very successful at flipping recruits in the past, so they should not be counted out until Guyton officiall signs with Texas Tech next December.
But if Smart continues to show this much passion in his recruitment, it's hard to see Georgia not winning this battle in the long run.
