Five-star quarterback Jayden Wade committed to Georgia football last month. Wade is the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2028 recruiting class, so that fact alone has made this one of the biggest commitments in Kirby Smart's tenure at Georgia.

But 2028 is a long time from now. There are still two more seasons Georgia has to get through before Wade will arrive on campus, but there was some hope that he would reclassify and become a member of the 2027 recruiting class instead.

Wade however shot those rumors down and has confirmed he will remain in the 2028 recruiting class.

It would have been perfect timing for Georgia if Wade reclassified into the 2027 class. Gunner Stockton more than likely will be returning for one more season, so his departure after next year will leave a big hole at the quarterback position that would need to be filled for the 2027 season. So if Wade reclassified, he would be able to compete for that starting job as a true freshman.

There's no guarantee that he would win the job in 2027, but he would have every chance to. And knowing how great of a player he already is, there is a good chance he would have won the starting job.

Wade still gave Georgia some good news even if he said he isn't reclassifying. He confirmed once again that he is officially locked in with UGA and can't imagine himself playing anywhere else. It will be interesting to see if that remains true over the next two years, but for now he is locked in as a Bulldog.

So while it would have been nice for him to reclassify and come to Georgia a year earlier, getting him in Athens a year later is still something for everyone to look forward to.
