5-star Georgia commit silences Miami rumors after Donte Wright did the opposite

Georgia's No. 1 commit in their 2027 recruiting class is five-star running back Kemon Spell. He is a top 10 player in the country and the No. 1 running back in the 2027 class, so his commitment is as important as any other commit right now.

Being such a highly ranked recruit though will make other schools want to poach him from Georgia. Miami, who seemingly is always trying to flip recruits from Georgia, unsurprisingly is leading the charge to try and steal him from Georgia, but according to Spell himself he has no interest whatsoever.

5-star RB Kemon Spell remains Georgia's most important commit to date

Georgia is in the middle of a pretty rough stretch of recruiting. They only have seven commits right now and are ranked outside the top 30 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings which is nowhere near good enough.

But having this commitment from Spell gives Georgia hope that everything will be okay. Georgia will eventually add more commits to their 2027 recruiting class, and when they do Spell will be leading the charge as UGA climbs the recruiting rankings.

If Spell were to decommit though Georgia would fall much lower in the recruiting rankings with little hope of ever recovering. But that thankfully isn't something anyone needs to worry about right now.

Georgia finally gets a win over Miami after multiple setbacks

Miami is one of the only schools who can brag at Georgia's expense recently. They have been the one program who has been able to consistently steal commits from Georgia which they've already done this year with five-star Donte Wright.

So out of every school in the country, Miami is the one that Georgia should fear the most.

That is why this update from Spell is so massive because he is telling Miami to leave him alone because he wants to remain committed to Georgia no matter what. Even if they have a higher NIL offer than Georgia, which they probably do, Spell isn't interested and that probably makes Kirby Smart really happy.

Miami however has won even more recruitments over Georgia than Wright though. Just last week they convinced four-star Jatori Williams to commit even though he had a visit to Georgia scheduled for next week. So instead of visiting Athens before making his final decision he was ready to commit to Miami without even giving Smart a chance.

As long as Miami keeps throwing around large amounts of money and Smart isn't willing to step up his NIL game the Hurricanes will more than likely keep beating Georgia for a lot of recruits. But Spell is proving that not everyone cares about NIL. He is showing there are still elite players out there who want to go to schools with a proven track record of winning and sending players to the NFL.

No one in all of college football is better at either of those things than Georgia, and Smart was able to use that to their advantage with Spell who isn't even interested in giving Miami the time of day.
