4-star OL Jatori Williams slaps Georgia in the face days before his visit

Recruiting season is beginning to ramp up for Georgia as they will host countless recruits on official visits between now and the end of June. Each weekend Georgia will bring a long list of recruits to campus, and these recruits are the players that Kirby Smart wants the most.

The important thing though is to ensure that these players make it to Athens before they commit to another school. And unfortunately that did not happen with four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams who just committed to Miami over the Bulldogs one week before he was supposed to visit Georgia.

Miami once again got the better of Georgia in key recruitment

Miami has been completely dominating Georgia on the recruiting trail recently. A few weeks ago they stole five-star Donte Wright from Georgia and turned him into the commit Georgia always dreamed he would be. Now they beat them once again for an offensive lineman Smart desperately wanted.

There's something about Miami that Georgia is really struggling to compete with. The Hurricanes are known for being big NIL spenders, so that likely is a reason why Georgia is losing some of these recruitments. The fact that they just made the National Championship game as well certainly makes them a desirable landing spot as well.

So combining those two things together might make Miami more attractive than Georgia to a lot of recruits right now.

That is a major problem for Smart, but there is one strategy he can learn from this loss that he needs to steal from Miami right now if he wants to save Georgia's recruiting class.

Kirby Smart needs to change his recruiting tactics as a result of losing Jatori Williams

As mentioned, Williams committed to Miami before he even took his visit to Georgia which was scheduled for next weekend. In years past recruits would almost always take all of their official visits before making their final decision, but that isn’t the case any longer.

Williams and Miami are just one recent example of a trend that is becoming far more common where a school is able to convince a recruit to commit even if they have other visits scheduled. That is the best thing any school can do because it eliminates any chance of that player changing their mind after another visit.

This is a tactic that Smart needs to start using at Georgia. After last weekend's visits Georgia received predictions for three players to commit to them, but so far none of those players have pulled the trigger. That means they could end up visiting other schools and deciding they are no longer interested in Georgia anymore.

Four-star Adryan Cole is the perfect example of what could go wrong for Georgia. He was one of the three players predicted to Georgia, but he has a visit lined up with LSU next weekend. So instead of already committing to Georgia he will head to LSU where Lane Kiffin just hired Ed Orgeron whose sole purpose is to win recruitments like this.

That is extremely dangerous for Smart in general, but especially in Cole's recruitment.

Smart has to find a way to mimic what Miami did with Williams because these recruits they are trending with could end up committing elsewhere if they keep letting them take other visits first.
