The Georgia Bulldogs need all the good fortune they can get on the recruiting trail. With their class ranking for 2027 not being in all that great of a spot, Kirby Smart and his staff should welcome and any all four and five-stars they can get to Commit to the G. While Georgia is a finalist for five-star defensive lineman David Folorunsho's commitment on May 15, the Dawgs feel like a long shot here.
On3's Hayes Fawcett shared the five programs Folorunsho will be deciding between on May 15.
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Miami Hurricanes
- Michigan Wolverines
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish
- Texas Tech Red Raiders
While Georgia is the only SEC school that is a finalist for Folrunsho's commitment, he is not coming...

According to the 247Sports Composite, Folorunsho is the No. 2 player from Illinois, the No. 3 defensive lineman in the 2027 cycle, and the No. 43 overall prospect in the country. He has 32 official offers. While he is still listed as taking official visits to both Indiana and Missouri, neither seem to be in play for him. Penn State was another program he had interest in, but it no longer looks to be the case.
It does feel like it will be either Michigan, Miami, or Notre Dame securing Folorunsho's commitment...
Georgia is only barely in the mix to land 5-star DL David Folorunsho
Let's be totally honest with ourselves here. We are talking about a five-star defensive lineman from Chicago who attends a Catholic school. For those reasons alone, nearby Michigan and Notre Dame should most definitely be in strong contention to land him. While Miami and Texas Tech are so far away, both Power Four schools will throw a big bag at anyone in recruitment. Georgia rarely does...
If we were to break this down in order from most likely to least likely to land Folorunsho in the 2027 cycle, Notre Dame and Michigan feel like they are at the very top of this list, followed by Miami and Texas Tech, and then Georgia at a distant fifth... While the Dawgs do a phenomenal job of recruiting and developing defensive linemen, the regional and religious ties may keep him away from the SEC.
For now, Georgia has roughly two weeks to close the gap to potentially bring Folorunsho to Athens for good. Again, being a finalist to land him is only a good thing, as Folorunsho was not really on Dawg Nation's radar as a legitimate contender to Commit to the G. At this time, Smart and the rest of his staff will really need to hunker down on their overall recruiting strategy if they want to land this player.
Georgia has plenty of time to build up the right class it deserves, with or without Folorunsho part of it.
