Jaxon Dollar is one of Georgia’s two five-star commits in their 2027 recruiting class. He chose to commit to Georgia back in April, and at the time it seemed like a very normal recruitment.
But after Dawg Nation spoke with his older brother Cameron, it’s clear that his recruitment wasn’t normal at all as he explained that he once thought about steering his brother away from Georgia.
Jaxon Dollar’s brother wasn’t sold on Georgia being the right fit
Dollar chose Georgia over Notre Dame and Miami which on the surface is a really good win. Both programs are very strong and have recently been dominant on the recruiting trail, so beating them for any recruit is not easy and worth celebrating when it happens.
But Georgia also had to overcome Dollar’s older brother who opened up about how he initially didn’t want him to go to Georgia.
“I’ll be honest,” Cameron Dollar said via dawgnation.com. “I was against Georgia early on. Mostly because I’d seen what they had brought in recently.”
”From a big brother perspective, trying to take care of him, I didn’t see Georgia as a fit for his personality at the time. Meaning like, it is going to be a tough road.”
Thankfully Dollar didn’t listen to his brother, but the reason why he chose to ignore his brother’s concerns should have fans even more fired up about his commitment.
Jaxon Dollar isn’t afraid of the competition in Georgia’s TE room
It definitely was a valid concern for Dollar’s brother to have about the amount of depth in Georgia’s tight end room. He only wants what’s best for his brother, so it isn’t crazy to for him to think that a school with more available playing time is a better option.
Dollar however never minded the amount of depth in Georgia’s tight end room. In fact, it seems like it motivated him and led him to want to go to Georgia even more.
“He’s like ‘I could get ‘em’ and he’s like ‘Yeah, this is me’ and that’s all he said,” Cameron Dollar said. “He said ‘This is me,’ and when he said that, that kind of let my guard down with Georgia. Because it checked the box. It’s close to home. Big-time football. Solid degree. Great coaches. It checks every box. The only thing left to answer was the opportunity of play time.”
This is the exact mindset that Georgia should want their players to have. Dollar isn’t afraid to put his head down and compete for playing time, and that is the perfect attitude that everyone should want each player at Georgia to have.
Who knows when Dollar will see significant playing time, but with this mindset it wouldn’t be surprising for it to happen sooner rather than later. And when he does earn playing time he certainly will be ready to make a name for himself.
